Terminalia ivorensis
Terminalia ivorensis is a tree that originates from the forests of West Africa and is commonly found in areas ranging from Cameroon to Sierra Leone. It is primarily cultivated for its timber in its native regions and is considered an economic plant due to its rapid growth and long lifespan.
The trunk of Terminalia ivorensis has brown bark with vertical fissures. Sometimes, the bark appears yellowish or has white speckles across its surface. The leaves are simple, alternately arranged at the tips of branches, and are oval or elliptical in shape, measuring about 1–1.5 centimeters wide and 1.5–3 centimeters long. The leaf tips are pointed, and the base is narrow and indented. The leaf edges are smooth, and the leaf blades are relatively thick and leathery with a glossy green color. Young leaves are green tinged with brown. The petiole is about 0.4 centimeters long.

Terminalia ivorensis produces white flowers that appear in clusters at the leaf axils near the ends of branches. The flowers are spike-like, with the base of the calyx fused together, and the tip splits into five triangular lobes. The flowers do not have petals. The fertile male flowers are at the base of the cluster and have about ten stamens. The fruit of Terminalia ivorensis is a fleshy, single-seeded drupe that is oval and somewhat flattened, about 2–5 centimeters wide and 3–7 centimeters long. The fruit is green and, when ripe, turns slightly yellowish-green. The seed has a tough, leathery shell and is oval and brown. Terminalia ivorensis flowers and bears fruit almost year-round.
